I’ll begin by saying that I have no idea what I am doing. What am I doing? I’m well out of my comfort zone and writing about my life. Discomfort aside, I thought that this might be quite a nice way for me to introduce myself to you.
I’m Lexi. I’m a 21-year-old female who just completed her fourth and final year of journalism undergraduate school (….!!!!!!!). I can’t tell you how excited I am to be finished school (for now anyways), though I’m fairly certain my head has grown a few sizes larger since the beginning of my degree. What was even in my skull before? Definitely not CP style…it’s a journalism thing.
Anyway, my adventures in the world of journalism have been quite fascinating. I’ve interviewed everyone from clowns to Swedish metal musicians to medical marijuana producers. I’m sure many of you know, university is a completely different ball game. Being a student is a whole other language. Oh, and finding work as a student is another language too.
Throughout my degree, I began to take up an interest in marketing after realizing that reporting was not financially conducive enough to support my chocolate milkshake addiction. I took a few introductory business courses (and a business law course that I somehow scored a B+ in…). I fell in love with the idea of branding yourself. Not with a hot torch, but with visuals, storytelling, and graphic design. I worked at a photography company and developed some rudimentary social media marketing skills. After I felt confident in my skill-set, I began freelancing for local entrepreneurs.
Now, here I am; writing a blog and keeping up with my freelancing and contracting adventures. I think that’s about it from me this time. I’m going to grab a matcha latte and take an epsom salt bath. I’ll be posting again soon, I’m sure.
Thanks for having a read. Have a great long weekend, everyone!
